About

Hi, and welcome to my blog! My name is Lillian, and food is my love language. I’ve always thought that the best food tastes good, fills our bellies, nourishes, brings comfort, brings people together, and the secret ingredient is love. And I try to remember my food philosophy when I feed my friends and family. I am married to my best friend, and we have 4 beautiful little kids.

I’ve always loved to cook, and when I was younger, I often made a lot of tasty but unhealthy choices. When I became a mother, I was determined to give my kids the best chance at life, and the best way I knew how was through food. Now we eat a mostly whole foods diet, and I’m constantly researching to find out how best to nourish my family while still expanding and pleasing our palates. My kids participate in every step of the food prep from menu planning, gardening, picking produce at the farmers market or grocery store, helping chop and stir, and the best part: eating. My hope is for them to know where their food comes from, and feel the benefit of the hard work that goes into food prepared by their own hands.

I’m half-Japanese and grew up in Tokyo, where I was surrounded by good food. Tokyo is a serious foodie city, and I was spoiled. Japanese people have a high standard for what they eat. It’s all beautiful and delicious and often very nutritious. It is an art and is highly respected. I’ve tried to continue in the tradition of my heritage, and serve food that is visually appealing, delicious, and still falls into the category of everyday cooking.

My overall focus is to have a healthy relationship with food. No deprivation, no over-indulgence. I’ve noticed a difference in my life because of it, and I hope to be able to help you find that joy as well.
